Shebara Resort

  • Setting a new benchmark, the LEED-Platinum resort, developed by Red Sea Global, is powered by an onsite solar farm, equipped with a desalination plant, and supported by a circular waste management system that reduces the need for the transportation of materials to and from the outer island it occupies; significantly reducing operational carbon emissions.

The prefabricated orbs—carefully cantilevering as aerial pods over the surrounding environment—encapsulate sprawling guest rooms with ample amenities and expansive private outdoor space defined by infinity pools and sunken sofas. Their mirror finished facades reflect the Red Sea below and take on a near-invisible quality. The holistic interior design of these 38 Overwater and 35 Beachfront Villa accommodations—balances the enticement of the sublime, the discovery of something entirely new, with the familiar, the comfort and refinement of recognizable reference points, even if furnishings and finishes have been reconfigured to emphasize the holistic forward-looking atmosphere of these spaces.

The complexity of the orb structures prompted a complete reconsideration of spatial planning and interior detailing. Cantilevered mirrors suspended from curving ceiling planes, organically shaped vanities in solid oak or polished steel, and monolithic bed platforms that seamlessly integrate nightstands all emerge as calibrated responses to the resort’s vessel-like geometry. In the Royal Villa’s principal suite, the bed is composed entirely of carved onyx—an elemental centerpiece within a space defined by layered materiality and restrained monumentality.

In both the Overwater and Beachfront Villas, interiors unfold with a fluid, radial logic, echoing the architectural form. Bronze-inlaid, leather-clad walls contour the curvature of ceilings, subtly delineating spaces while concealing storage and passageways. Open-plan bathrooms feature sculptural travertine bathtubs and steel vanities that taper and cantilever from the walls. Cast-glass pendant lights, linen-upholstered seating, and freestanding furnishings rendered in polished metal and lacquered wood underscore a consistent material language rooted in craftsmanship.

Throughout the resort, key objects—such as the mirrored bar cabinets—serve as both sculptural elements and tactile moments of discovery. Seemingly weightless and enigmatic, they reveal intricately detailed interiors only when engaged, mirroring the broader design ethos of Shebara: one where innovation, precision, and the handmade converge to form a highly immersive, forward-looking guest experience attuned to its extraordinary natural setting.
